Our story
Where it all started
We looked around at our community and saw what so many Seacoast families were missing: a safe, clean, welcoming space where children of all ages and abilities could come together and play… and where parents could connect.
Many places closed during Covid, a few reopened, but not enough to meet the needs of seacoast children and their families.
So we built one.
Little Dunes opened in North Hampton in July 2026 as New Hampshire’s first indoor sand play space. Our co-founder is a licensed Occupational Therapist, and that background shaped the decisions behind the space, from the sand selection to the environment design to the programming we offer. What looks like play is actually some of the most important work children do. We built a space that takes that seriously, while still being joyful, welcoming, and genuinely fun.
We chose sand because it’s one of the most powerful play materials available to young children. It’s sensory-rich, endlessly creative, and naturally absorbing for children of every temperament and ability. And we chose to bring it indoors because families on the Seacoast deserve a space like this 365 days a year, not just when the weather cooperates.

Play is the occupation of childhood.
And it deserves a space built around that idea, not just a room with stuff to do.
Clean matters. We hold ourselves to an exceptional standard, thorough daily physical cleaning, plus Visium Far-UVC lighting that continuously inactivates airborne and surface pathogens throughout operating hours and after we close. Families trust us with their children. We don’t take that lightly.
Every child belongs here. No age minimum. No size restrictions. Children with sensory sensitivities, developmental differences, and every ability level are welcome here, the space was designed with all of them in mind.
Community is the point. Little Dunes is a gathering place, for parents to find each other, for children to grow up with somewhere to belong, and for Seacoast families to have something that is genuinely theirs.
